Burhi kaki still groans

On 8th October 1936 an uncommon genius bowed out after a short but glorious innings and left the ephemeral world .He was arguably the most influential litterateur produced by India whose oeuvre was astonishingly wide in it's thematic and temporal range.These qualities transform his writings into a rivetting read.Who is he ?He is none other than Munshi Premchand. He is a Colossus
of the literary world .
His Stories fiction are a mirror to society and would stay with us forever even after 86 year later we are grappling with the issue of survival of old woman in our society .Here I am talking about the story
Burhi kaki, Premchand written Burhi Kaki in 1921 and even after 100years Burhi kaki is visible everywhere and Ladli daughter of Budhiram is vanished somewhere in History . Burhi Kaki is one of the best story written by Premchand This story is very close to my heart.It talks about life morals that people at any age should know.This story narrates the reality of life and unveils the tales of woman's sufferance in old age.He seamlessly blended rich and poor, the folk and classical, the demotic and the scholarl Why old age homes are fast becoming the last resort of elderly ?Son and daughters driving their parents out of the house once the property is bequeathed to them and possession.The worst affected by this phenomenon are women or we can say ultimate victim are women.
In old age the widowed woman is completely at the mercy of her family and often suffers severe abuse. The gender disparities faced by women get  exacerbated in old age since the woman often has no income or assets and is completely dependent on her family.      .They are often treated as unpaid caregivers to their grandchildren and made to do household chores in return for a roof over their head . The society now needs strong social protection mechanism for the elderly.
This requires an all-round cultural revolution based on morality and spirituality . In the immediate time period more houses with love and happiness ๐Ÿ™‚ are needed for old woman.Here I want to share the real story of a woman.Once I was staying in my relatives house it was 2 o clock in the night I heard the lamentation of old lady and dogs were barking.Later I came to know about the story of old lady long ago she was a rich lady and now she is widow and no one is here to support her.Now with her deteriorating vision she is unable to go anywhere.Now daughter and son -in-law after some deliberation decided that the old woman of the house would stay in one dingy and dirty room.This is the real story of mistreatment of old woman and truely horrifying .The sketch of Burhi kaki is made by me and shows the gloom on her face.
No one has raised any voice in the past.Old age is the last phase of life so elderly do not need to be warehoused.
What is the use of having progressive ideas if one has no courage to voice them.
Premchands sensitive portrayal of the trials and tribulations of his characters put us on the way for self-discovery....

I have always been fond of reading.Looking back I can't forget how my father went above and beyond to encourage my love for reading  .My love for reading which was present in my school days has grown significantly. Due to fast-paced nature of digital media there is decline in reading habits . With the arrival of mobile phone, Laptop the habit of reading largely diminished among the youth.Reading newspaper and Magazine along with tea is no longer seen . Recently when I ransacked my store of the house ,I finally hit upon this great magazine of my father,s time. My father was an ardent reader of this magazine.This magazine  "Sunday,,was the biggest best seller of it's time.It was published from Anand Bazar publication.Once upon a time Mr M.J.Akbar has been editor of The Sunday,,.(1982 edition) . Now I don't know anything about this Magazine but this Magazine is imbued with memories....
