Nida Fazli an inspiring optimist
Seven years ago on 8th February 2016 a simple man,an under-celebrated genius ,and darling of poetic soirees passed away.
Kabhi kisi ko muqammal jahan nahi milta,(film, Ahista Ahista))
These profound lines have been penned by none other than Muqtida Hassan famous as Nida Fazli. For a few minutes Kunal Kapoor and Padmini Kolhapure on whom it was filmed in Ahista Ahista receeded from everybody,s memory but rendition of Bhupender Singh still resonates.I too tried to find the real meaning of life.Still these dulcet lines soothe me.His beautiful lyrics are lovingly
and spontaneously recited even though most people are not able to read the Urdu script.
Partition emerges a living embodiments of anguish and he seemingly piqued. When his parents migrated to Pakistan but he decided to stay in the narrow lanes of Old Delhi . This was a painful emotional experience of life.
Later years he gave expression to that ache in these lines .
"Tumhari qabr par main fateha padhne nahi aaya
Tumhari maut ki sacchi khabar jisne udai thi woh jhoota tha..."
Search for livelihood took him to Mumbai. In the city of dream he found his language, range, recognition ,fans and followers .
In 1998 he was awarded Sahitya Akademi award for his work , Khoya Hua sa Kuchh This is the rich respository of verses .Nida Fazli has written wonderful
lines on mother in Besan ki sondhi roti .
(Bant ke apna chehra
Matha,Aankhe Jane kahan gai
Phatee purane ik Album mein
Chanchal larki jaisi maa.... )
Here Nida Fazli introduces the concept of death of mother very intelligently .
These are the lines from "Ek looti Hui Basti,
(Basti ki galiyon me
Akhbar aaya
Khuda ki hifazat ki khatir
Police ne
Pujari ke mandir me
Mulla ki maszid me
Pahra lagaya.)
The masses were not able to grasp the profundity of his simple expression.
A pious human heart of Nida Fazli beats in all his lyric .
Aaa bhi ja Aaa bhi jaa ,(Sur)
Lucky Ali voice inspires his listeners, some saw a beloved in his words and other witnesses a divine phenomenon .
Nida Fazli,s thoughts are simple but message is universal .
Indeed,Nida Fazli,s words ring true in voice of Jagjit Singh.
Duniya jise kahate hain
Jadu ka khilona hai
Mil jaye to mitti hai
Kho jaye to Sona hai.......?
