No doubt this mausoleum was built during Mughal period but the man who rests in peace here is not a Mughal but a Persian nobleman Mirza Ghias Beg ,of Tehran and his wife Asmat Begam.
Mirza Ghias Beg was on his way to India to seek fortune, when he arrived India got a job in Akbar,s court. He has a beautiful daughter named Meher-un-Nisa.Her husband name was Ali Quli Khan alias Sher Afgan .Sher Afgan was killed in a scuffle .
Akbar had three sons Salim,Murad and Danyal .Murad and Danyal had died during the lifetime of their father.Only Salim survived he became king under the title of Nur-ud-din Muhammad Jahangir.
In 1611 Jehangir married a beautiful Iranian lady Meher-un-Nisa .After marriage Meher-un-Nisa became queen came to be called Nur Jehan(The light of the world ) .She completely dominated the power .
She was vauchsafef honour and privileges never enjoyed by any of her predecessor or successor.Coinage struck in her name .
Nur Jahan placed various members of her family in high position . Mirza Ghias Beg was given the title of Itmad-ud-daula and she erected a magnificent marble tomb to commemorate her father at Agra .
