Dowry, Disastrous, Demand

The dowry system is stigma to our society.
The dowry deaths, suicide and murder continues to take place unchecked in many parts of India.While we have Dowry Prohibition Act since 1961and there is stringent laws for punishment.But today dowry is an instrument of oppression.The more they give greedier the receiving party becomes . I don't have sympathy for parents who feel that their social standing is more important than their daughter,s life.
Dr.Shahana is not the only one to die for dowry  there are  more daughters like her that India lost .Why Ulema is silent over this practice . The obvious question would be why do we seek to conserve tremendously oppressive social system.
There is an endless debate on Beti bachao,Beti padhao.This is a compaign of the Government of India.Why Dr.Shahana took a drastic step to kill herself.A young and educated lady commited suicide . 
It hurts our self -respect as a woman and dehumanises us as Indian.
We are just woman not Hindu, Muslim, Christian,Sikh,or Sc-St.There may be linguistic differences, colour difference, religious differences but all these are eternal and apparent.But the language of the heart and the language of sentiment is the same.
The Indian media is consumed by politics with analysing what the Minister said or what opposition leader tweeted.In this obsession with politics of Hindu -Muslim subject like dowry get short shrift.
At the end..Rest in peace departed Docter daughter of India .

I have always been fond of reading.Looking back I can't forget how my father went above and beyond to encourage my love for reading  .My love for reading which was present in my school days has grown significantly. Due to fast-paced nature of digital media there is decline in reading habits . With the arrival of mobile phone, Laptop the habit of reading largely diminished among the youth.Reading newspaper and Magazine along with tea is no longer seen . Recently when I ransacked my store of the house ,I finally hit upon this great magazine of my father,s time. My father was an ardent reader of this magazine.This magazine  "Sunday,,was the biggest best seller of it's time.It was published from Anand Bazar publication.Once upon a time Mr M.J.Akbar has been editor of The Sunday,,.(1982 edition) . Now I don't know anything about this Magazine but this Magazine is imbued with memories....
